    Существительные cabin и кабина совпадают только в значении 'закрытая кабина самолета': pilot's cabin. Наряду с этим cabin имеет ряд значений, не свойственных существительному кабина: 1) 'хижина': log cabin (cabin часто употребляется для обозначения убогих хижин нищенствующих крестьян: mud cabin, filthy cabin); 2) 'каюта корабля': ship's cabin; 3) 'железнодорожная будка': railway cabin. В свою очередь, русское существительное кабина имеет в зависимости от значения различные английские эквиваленты. Так, русскому душевая кабина соответствует в английском языке bathing hut, кабина лифта – car, кабина для голосования – polling booth, кабина для телефонных переговоров – telephone booth.
